Itâs no secret that one of my favorite things to do while traveling is capture the local vibe with a photoshoot! I’m always on the hunt for the best places to take pictures. Itâs the easiest way to take in the location as well as catch some great content for the âgram!
While shooting in , I did just that! Fort Lauderdale has so much to offer in terms of backdrops for excellent photos: 23 miles of sandy beaches, wildlife reserves, urban scapes, nearly anything you could possibly want for stunning photos. For me, when I hear South Florida, I think street art and murals and Fort Lauderdale has no shortage of stunning art.
As I was planning my shoots, I really couldnât find any photo guides listing any of the art. As we were all over the cities shooting and interviewing, we easily spotted plenty of good photo spots and took down the locations. With that information, I decided to make my own guide to Fort Lauderdale photo spots! I hope you find inspiration from this guide and have some steller photoshoots of your own!
Whole Foods
Location: 2000 N Federal Hwy, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33305
A grocery store this might seem like an odd stop on a best places to take pictures in Fort Lauderdale list, but trust me on this one. My photographer and I spotted this Better Together mural from the road and knew we had to circle back and snap some photos.
Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery
Location: 115 NW 6th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311
If you read my post, youâve already been introduced to Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery. What you didnât get to see was the rainbow mural on the buildingâs exterior! You know I love a rainbow, so I had to venture back in the day time to capture it!
Claudia Castillo Art Studio
Location: 2215 Wilton Dr, Wilton Manors, FL 33305
Wilton Manors is right in the heart of Fort Lauderdale and is not short on colorful spaces. The Gayborhoodâs main drag, Wilton Manors Drive, is the place to be for great photos in Wilton Manors. Pop by Claudia Castilloâs Art Studio for a cute doorway photo with âLOVEâ painted above the door. When youâre done, head in and say hi to Claudia! Sheâs delightful and so is her art.
Christmas Palace
Location: 800 NE 13th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304
Iâd be doing my brand as Christmas Queen a disservice if I didnât put something Christmas on a photo tour. Itâs Christmas everyday in my heart, okay? I couldnât pass up a quick stop here and be still my tinseled heart. Every square inch is Christmas galore, fit to keep you feeling festive all year round!
Gulf Stream Brewing & Pizzeria
Location: 1105 NE 13th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304
Just down the street from The Christmas Palace, we spotted these jolly jellies. Regrettably, we didnât stop for a slice of their pizza, but we definitely should have as it is rated one of the best pies in Fort Lauderdale.
FATVillage Art District
Location: 521 NW 1st Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301
I was so inspired by the jellyfish at Gulf Stream Brewing & Pizzeria, I wanted to find another spot to fulfill my underwater fantasies. We spotted some street art from the car as we were driving and let me tell you, it was so worth it!
FATVillage Art District is a vibrant art community that hosts a monthly art walk, open galleries, artisan goods, and of course all the street art! There are so many spots to pick from; it didnât disappoint! Stop for the art, stay for the So-Flo art vibes!
Wilton Discount Liquors
Location: 2105 NE 5th Ave, Wilton Manors, FL 33305
I saved my favorite for last! On the side of Wilton Discount Liquors, we spotted this mural. Be Proud! Of course I had to stop and show my pride.
Julian’s Fountain of Treasures
Location: 2378 Wilton Dr, Wilton Manors, FL 33305
Right across the street from the LGBTQ-owned thrift store, Julian’s Fountain of Treasures, you can find an equally vibrant butterfly themed mural. The beautiful thing about this mural is you can position yourself at a distance where it looks like the wings are actually you’re own which is a cool effect for sure!
There are so many other spots to check out too like Sebastian Beach and the iconic wave wall or Las Olas Boulevard or otherwise known as the âVenice of Americaâ. With so much color and culture to take in, youâll never run out of great spots youâll want to photograph.
