When my sister was in high school, she worked at Ann Taylor Loft. The clothes were preppy and not exactly my style but I tried things out anyways because I thought anything my sister did was worth trying too! 15 years later, I can think for myself but I did let a good sale lure me into trying LOFT .
LOFT is the little cheaper sister of Ann Taylor Loft. While LOFT carries more casual pieces than Ann Taylor, both still lean professional and more on the conservative (i.e. not gaudy) side. LOFT entered in the plus size clothing arena back in early 2018. Since their clothing isn’t exactly my personal style, I didn’t really consider trying LOFT that is until fellow Rosey Blair posted that LOFT was having a mega sale after Christmas.
Rosey was one of the first bloggers I saw try out LOFT and the sale was too good to pass up. I mostly grabbed plus size clothing to wear to work. I swear I am trying to finally let business leggings go. The try-on haul video below shows you all five pieces I snagged.
My Try-On:
My thoughts:
With a size range up to 26, this is a good option for extended size clothing for work. My personal biggest takeaway from this LOFT plus size workwear clothing review is that without a petite fit option, LOFT pants are a pass for me. The skinny plus size pants were comically not skinny and the cropped jeans were of course, not cropped on me. The pants are ran a little small while the skirt and dress were more true to size. I ordered a 22 in all of the bottoms. In the two pairs of trousers, I could’ve used a 24. The jeans fit in the 22 and in the skirt, I needed a 20. My favorite piece was surprisingly the floral dot dress which is sadly sold out.
My suggestion would to shop LOFT’s plus size clothing sale section. The pieces are very well made so if you can catch a sale, you can stock up on pieces that aren’t likely to fall apart. But it’s not quite that simple. While LOFT has some really strong pieces for workwear, their fit is somewhat inconsistent and definitely not petite-friendly. LOFT is not online only so shopping in-store is an option. If you’re near a large city, you’ll have a better chance of finding plus sizes in stores.
