We are back with another edition of ! This series celebrates LGBTQ-owned businesses all year long, not just during Pride in June. We are shining the light on a clothing line with the goal of redefining queer fashion, .
Snapback Tiara was born from an idea back in 2013. The brand’s founder, Cherie Chase, took the name from a friend’s offhand joke. The name stuck as it represented the combination of masculinity and femininity the brand would aim to embody.
There’s no one way to be a queer woman. You don’t have to identify as masculine or feminine and you certainly don’t have to dress one way, either. Snapback Tiara’s line of tees celebrates the diverse personal style of queer women.
In Chase’s own words, redefining queer fashion is what the brand is all about:
“Based in Mississauga Ontario, Queer clothing brand Snapback Tiara challenges the ideas of what ‘Queer Fashion’ means,” shares Chase. “With women at the focus and the idea that our identities are a celebration and not a part of a larger conversation with heterosexuality. We endeavor to bring a sense of positivity to our local and global community.”
While Chase recognizes the need for global social change and acceptance, that’s not the kind of message you’ll find on Snapback Tiara’s tees.
You can find shirts with phrases such as “Big Dyke Energy” and “Sapphic Savage.” The designs celebrate the queer identity in a very now way.
