For the past few years, I have worked a few days a week as a freelancer at an agency. Since it’s a creative environment, I am lucky that I can mostly dress casual; however, I know the challenge of finding . I’ve been on the hunt for wide leg plus size pant suits to wear to client meetings and professional events. Specific, I know. With how hard it is to find petite plus size clothes in general, I figured finding plus size pant suits were a lost cause. But Lane Bryant made this short girl’s dreams come true!
When I graduated college, my mom, an OG marketing professional who now runs her own business, took me shopping for a blazer. She said that a good blazer was crucial to my success in the workforce. My first big girl job was at Groupon and it was casual to the extreme. I think I wore a crop top once to work. But alas, I still have that red blazer for sentimental reasons and I’ve since added a few suits to my wardrobe. Because of my height, I’ve always been forced to do suits with skirts unless I wanted to try and tailor my pants (always an option but not my favorite).
A wide leg plus size pants suit is truly a unicorn and now that I’ve found it from Lane Bryant, it’s going to be a wardrobe staple. I wanted to find a way to style it for after work too. I love a good day to night styling because pieces are not made to be worn just one way and that goes for suits too! Versatility can be a key way to maximize your wardrobe.

This amazing features a faux leather collar, silver statement buttons and a single front clasp. It’s made from a stretch ponte fabric which makes it very curve-hugging. Because I was able to order it in petite, the sleeves are the right length. I’ve always been forced to buy three-quarter sleeve blazers because of the sleeve length so this was a nice change!
The jewelry I picked for this look was an ode to my mother. She loves a with a power blazer. Since these pants are pretty high waisted, I knew a long necklace would accent the neckline perfectly and I was right! The were a fun tack on the hoops I usually wear and were definitely more appropriate for a professional setting.
These pants are also stretch ponte. They are the perfect high waist cut and look at that length y’all! For reference, I am 5’1″. I am wearing true (see below) and I think I could wear this with a small heel too. If you are not in need of a petite plus royal blue suit, might I add that these pants come in six colors in regular and long lengths.

I took the blazer from the plus size royal blue suit and I paired it with a pair of in cheetah print. I love how the blueish purple of the blazer paired with the cheetah print. This after-work look is perfect for drinks with co-workers or dinner with the fiance.
As you saw in the loafers photo above, these jeans are also made for petites. It can be challenging to tuck regular length jeans into boots because of the excess fabric. Even though these petite jeans are tucked in, I was grateful for the length.
I am a big fan of . I often times opt for over the knee styles but below the knee styles are great with jeans. My calves are 18 inches at their widest. These boots zip on the side and fit with jeans tucked in. Total WIN! I loved that these wide calf boots feature a corseted back for a little added pizazz.
From day to night, this plus size royal blue suit did not disappoint! It worked as a professional workwear look and just by changing the pants and shoes, it did the job for after work too.
