Have you ever put on a pair of leggings and struggled to pull them up above your belly? Once you finally get them to sit where you want on your stomach, they roll down as soon as your take your first step. This is an all too common problem when it comes to plus size activewear. But I have discovered the solution: Rainbeau Curves.
When I put on my first pair of Rainbeau Curves , I had no problem getting them on. I thought “ok, they go on easily which means they will fall down easily.” I was wrong! These plus size activewear leggings not only went on easily but they stayed in place above my belly for the duration of my hike! I went up stairs; I sat down to tie my shoe and no movement. My leggings stayed in place at my natural waist.
Meet Rainbeau Curves
Rainbeau Curves products are a game changer for plus size women who do yoga, weightlifting, running, hiking or who simply want comfortable lounge clothes to wear around the house. There’s a clear difference between plus size activewear from Rainbeau Curves and other brands I’ve tried: the fabric. Many plus size leggings and bras are made from non-breathable compression materials. Rainbeau Curves products are made using premium performance materials.
Although this was my first time trying Rainbeau Curves, they are not new to the plus size activewear game. They are a family-owned and operated brand based out of San Francisco for more than 30 years. When spandex was first launched in the 1980s, Rainbeau Curves was quick to make the connection that spandex provided both stretch and comfort.

Sizing
You may be asking yourself: how does Rainbeau Curves. The answer is true to size! I tried out six plus size activewear products from : two leggings, two tops and two sports bras and I loved them all. Based on the size chart, I ordered a size 18/20 in every product. I typically wear a size 20 in athleisure so I found that all of these products ran true to size. Rainbeau Curves makes plus size clothing from sizes 14-28.
Plus Size Activewear Leggings
Since I am 5’1″, I usually look for capri or cropped leggings. Rainbeau Curves had quite a few options for plus size leggings ranging from capri lengths that work for petite plus size babes and that offer a 3 inch longer inseam.
I am wearing the in the color Evergreen. They feature a 19″ inseam. The colorblocking provides a dynamic pattern. Not only does the mesh provide visual interest but it also serves to create a bit of breathability. There’s a hidden pocket at the waistband and anti-chafing seaming. Talk about a win!
I also tried out the Maia Capri leggings. They feature an 21″ inseam and similar features to the Ryan including the hiddle pocket and anti-chafing seaming. I picked them out because I really loved the gradient pattern on the side. I felt like this added an element of aesthetic to my athleisure.
Plus Size Sports Bras
I didn’t think it was possible but the plus size sports bras impressed me just as much as the leggings. The Valerie Bra in Evergreen pairs well with the Ryan leggings. I’m wearing the 18/20. My bra size is a 42DD.
The bra features color-blocking materials. The back includes breathable moisture-wicking mesh. It’s designed for medium impact and what I really loved about this sports bra is that it was comfortable to wear. Usually unless it’s designed purely for leisure, I don’t find sports bras comfortable but this one broke that mold. The front features an easy open and close zipper.
I also tried out the Fleur Bra in slate blue. The front zipper closure is similar to that of the Valerie style. It features wider straps than the Valerie and an infinity criss-cross back of moisture-wicking mesh. There’s inner stabilization which aids in smoothing things out. It is also for medium impact but SO comfortable to wear.
Plus Size Workout Tops
I paired the Ryan and Valerie with a matching top, . The moisture-wicking fabrication feels similar to that of the leggings. It features thick straps and there’s a long rounded hem. The length was really important to me because it’s long enough that it won’t ride up during movement. The color-clock top lines up in a chevron pattern. There’s a mesh panel in the back specifically designed for ventilation.
The is not your average cotton workout top. It’s slate blue and pairs well with the Maia Capri leggings. There’s a gradient abstract pattern on the front and rolled sleeves. The length here really impressed me on this as well. It’s 31.75″ in the front and 31.5″ in the back.
Final Thoughts
Rainbeau Curves is a really important and valuable resource for plus size babes looking to engage in joyful movement. I know that I personally have trauma surrounding movement so having activewear options that fit comfortably really aid in the process. When items fit without falling down, it makes it a lot easier to drown out those voices that tell you that you shouldn’t be moving your body. Your body is worthy and deserving of moving in a way that feels good to you! And you deserve to have clothing that moves with you. For me, Rainbeau Curves is now topping my list for plus size activewear that makes me feel good about moving my body!
