Hey Ready to Stare-ios – L.A. here! If thereâs anything in this world that I love more than my dogs and photographing, it’s coffee. Like any , Iâm an iced coffee drinker no matter the weather and if Iâm being biased (which I totally am), the coffee scene in Cleveland is one of best around. On the Westside of Cleveland, Lakewood coffee shops are where it’s at!
In Northeast Ohio, we are fortunate to have many craft roasters and world baristas that call The Land home. There are seriously so many I had to split this into two, maybe even three blog posts to cover all my favorites. What can I say? Iâm a coffee addict.
Being a West-Sider, Iâm a regular at many of the coffee shops in my neck of the woods. Here are my top ten favorite coffee shops on the West Side of Cleveland with many Lakewood coffee shops making the list.
Lakewood Coffee Shop – Brewellaâs
16806 Madison Ave. | Lakewood
If youâre in the mood for coffee, crepes, and antiques, is the spot for you. Expertly designed for each season, Brewellaâs has a changing menu to fit the changing weather.
This LGBTQ+ owned shop is great for a quiet afternoon browsing their antiques and sipping a coffee. Itâs also an excellent spot for selfies. This is one of the best Lakewood coffee shops without a doubt.
Goodkind
15526 Madison Ave. | Lakewood
Fancying a cocktail but donât want the booze? Grab a craft latte from , another stand-out Lakewood coffee shop. Their beverages draw inspiration from classic cocktails like mojitos and old fashioned. One of my all-time favorite coffee creations is found at Goodkind. Do yourself a favor and grab a CLV which features cold brew, lime juice, vanilla simple syrup⦠chefâs kiss.
Propaganda
17806 Detroit Ave. | Lakewood
is the new kid on the block, opening in summer 2021. What makes this shop unique is that itâs all vegan, all soy-free, and all gluten-free. Allergy laden babes rejoice! Everything on their menu is amazing from vegan baked goods to affogatos. Donât miss out on their weekend brunches.
Rising Star
13368 Madison Ave. | Lakewood
One of the city’s more prominently feature roasters, is a Lakewood coffee community staple. I am definitely the local townie at my neighborhood Rising Star so much so, they know my order as soon as I walk in (an iced americano with seltzer water).
Rising Star is all over this city from Westside to Downtown to the Eastside. Many of our local grocery stores, restaurants, and coffee shops feature their brews.
COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE
4139 Pearl Rd. | Old Brooklyn
is one of the best kept coffee shop secrets in Cleveland. This haunt pulls ingredient from local Cleveland area farmers and artisans for their brews and bites. Theyâre famous for their Rocket Fuel, a 24hr steeped cold brew with chocolate milk.
They claim not to be a coffee shop, but a rocket ship, taking your morning from zero to 60gs in one cup. The interior is a hipsterâs dream, packed to the gills with interesting art, local good, lush plants, and a rather kooky in shop library.
Ready Set Coffee
7306 Detroit Ave Ste. 101 | Detroit Shoreway
I told myself I wouldnât play favorites when creating this post, but I canât help but point out that has my heart and soul. This roasters and cafe is home to both my all time favorite coffee beverage: the Duke (itâs only seasonal so get while you can)and roast beans (Iâm a sucker for a Yirgacheffe).
Itâs a bright airy shop with the nicest baristas around right outside of the funky neighborhood of Gordon Square. If you only hit one coffee shop on this list, make it Ready Set Coffee.
Duck Rabbit Coffee
4160 Lorain Ave | Hingetown
A minimalistâs dream coffee shop, is home to unique and offbeat roasts. Want a pink bourbon pour over or an obscure bean youâve never heard of?
Duck Rabbit has succulent brews for the discerning coffee palette. Don’t try to order any fancy flavors but if you like your coffee black, this is the shop for you.
Lekko Coffee
2529 Detroit Ave | Hingetown
Another newer addition to the coffee scene in Cleveland, is a living wage roastery and cafe nestling in the hip Hingetown neighborhood. The vibes in this shop are immaculate, think contemporary living room vibes, perfect for meetings and networking.
Phoenix Coffee Company
3000 Bridge Ave | Ohio City
is the only employee owned cooperative coffee company in the state of Ohio and one of Clevelandâs premiere coffee roasters. This shop has five locations in bustling districts across the city each with their own vibe. Phoenix is a great spot to post up and get some work down while noshing on commissary bites and topnotch brews.
Scoot! Coffee
2085 W 114th St. | Cleveland
Scoot! Is another one of my favorite shops in this city. This lesbian owned shop and roastery cold brews all of their coffee, which you can get either cold or hot, and concocts some inventive drinks. One of my favorites they cooked up with a Palo Santo Cold Brew Latte and I still dream about it.
Coffee isnât their only offering. They serve up some local vegan goods as well as community events. You may recognize this shop from our lesbian Christmas movie, !
By no means, is this an exhaustive list; there are so many great spots to get your bean fix. If the sheer cool and grit of Cleveland isnât enough to convince you to visit, our coffee shops will!
Want some more coffee shop recommendations? Let me know know your favorite way to take your coffee and Iâll give you your perfect Cleveland coffee shop match.
Pro Tip: donât do like I did and go to all ten of these shops in one day and drink a coffee at each one. Caffeinate responsibly!
