With looking very different this year, there is no better time for a movie marathon complete with creepy cocktails to match. Right now, there’s nothing scarier than attending a party with a whole bunch of guests. So turn off the lights, change into your , grab your popcorn and the candy you’re hoarding from the tricker treaters, itâs about to get spooky when you celebrate Halloween at home.
Movies That are Spooky Fun
- Hocus Pocus: No Halloween movie list is complete without classic. Three witches from the old Salem days are out to run amuck amuck amuck trying to make themselves younger by sunrise. Complete with a fang-tastic musical number by Bette Midler, this flick is sure to put a spell on you. Streaming on Disney+.
- Beetlejuice: Another necessary addition to any Halloween watch list. Need to evict the living? Call on the zany Beetlejuice to get it done wrong. If you donât mind Harry Belafonte possession and giant sandworms that is. If not, just donât say his name thrice. Streaming on Hulu.
- The Addams Family: Theyâre creepy and they’re kooky, and absolutely necessary for Halloween. Home morbid home, tuck in with the Addams; a tight bunch of screw balls here for a ghoulish good time. Plus Anjelica Huston in goth glam? Yes, please. Streaming on Netflix.
- Casper: were you even a 90âs kid if you didnât have a crush on Capserâs human form or Christina Ricci? No, I donât think so. Just go watch it, skin bag! Streaming on Hulu.
- Corpse Bride: Can you have Halloween without Tim Burton? Short answer? No. Burton redefines gothic romance with an undead bride and her still breathing stiff. We all end up the remains of the day. Streaming on Hulu.
Movies to Scare Your Pants Off
- Sleepy Hollow: creepy king and queen themselves, Johnny Deep and Christina Ricci bring to life Tim Burtonâs twisted rendition of Washington Irvingâs Legends of Sleepy Hollow. A classic Halloween romp with some jump scares and all the New England aesthetics youâd expect from Burton. Streaming on Nextflix.
- Cabin in the Woods: All of the possible Halloween scares packed into one irreverent and self-aware dark comedy. Every trope, every mistake, everything youâd expect from a scary movie with a twist at the end that would make M. Night Shaymalan cry. Streaming on Hulu
- Poltergeist: Infamous for a reason. Itâs hard to tell which is scarier, the film or the behind the scenes stories of how the film was made? Give it a watch, if you dare. Theyâre probably already here. Streaming on Netflix.
- Halloween: The classic slasher that launched Jamie Lee Curtis into scream queen status forever. Run, donât walk away from Michael Myers. Donât forget to check your doors. Streaming on Amazon Prime.
Since youâre staying celebrating Halloween at home anyway, why not imbibe in some liquid courage to help you weather scares? We mixed up some cocktails ranging from sweet to sinister. Now, letâs bring on the boo-ooze!
This coffee based cocktail is sure to help you keep awake through all the films you’ll be watching (if the scares don’t do it first!). A blend of coldbrew and maple flavors are sure to please. A little twist on the classic Witch’s Brew. On Wednesdays we drink pink, otherwise you can’t haunt with us. A darker version of the drink you enjoyed in your youth. Deep spiced rum and blood red cherries. She’s like, really dead. The perfect night-de-cap. If you have trouble sleeping post scary movies, this cocktail will send you off to a deep sleep, not six feet under I promise. The Lumberjack Girlfriend
