The leaves haven't started to fall but since it's technically Autumn, I have been packing my wardrobe with pieces fit for the season. Since I am filling my closet far more often than I am filling my glass these days, it seemed like the perfect time to incorporate wine into my wardrobe. I've teamed up with plus size retailer, Deb Shops to bring you three different looks featuring this Fall-ready shade. And as a bonus, you can use the code "READYTOSTARE20" to take 20% off your entire order at Deb Shops.

Wine is one color that I wear pretty consistently on my lips (Anastasia Beverly Hills "Potion" is life!) but when it comes to apparel, I hadn't really ventured too far with the color. Blogger Margot Meanie did an awesome wine trend color round-up and definitely inspired me to take a second look at this color! Here's a few ways I rocked this fit for everything from an evening out to a casual Sunday brunch.

#ReadyToStare x Fashion Nova Curve

By Alysse Dalessandro
on October 04, 2016

Online retailer Fashion Nova recently launched a Curve line so naturally, I had to try it out for myself. I am all in favor of brands expanding to include plus sizes and with five locations in Southern California and a massive online following of 5.4 million on Instagram, Fashion Nova is a growing powerhouse in the realm of trend-driven fast fashion.

Looking through the Plus Size & Curve section, I saw everything from bodysuits and dusters to high-waisted jeans and bodycon dresses. Their selection is sexy, sleek and a lot of the things I see on straight size bloggers that are sometimes hard to find in my size.

#StareStyle: A First Look at Ashley Nell Tipton for JCPenney Boutique+

By Alysse Dalessandro
on September 09, 2016

In collaboration with JCPenney, I am bringing you a first look at the new Ashley Nell Tipton for Boutique+ capsule collection! Launching on September 6 with a live runway show in New York City, the collection is available today September 9 in JCPenney stores across the country!

This is Ashley's first collection post Project Runway and it's available exclusively at JCPenney. Looking through this 1950s inspired collection, it feels true to Ashley's aesthetic. There's leather; there's chiffon; there's lipstick print blouses and there's even a sequin bomber jacket. The collection is modern badass meets sophisticated chic at the same time.

#StareStyle: Power Up with the Ruby Linker Style Challenge

By Alysse Dalessandro
on August 14, 2016

*This post was sponsored by Ruby Linker but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ruby Linker is a new line of limited edition wearable art products based out of California and today, I am taking on the Ruby Linker Style Challenge to show you how I style one of their plus size tops.

All tops are available in sizes S-3X. The cut of the tops are flowy so they could likely fit beyond a 3X as well. The brand also makes really cute patterned leggings. Hopefully those will become available in plus sizes soon!

A Very Birthday Best Friend Friday

By Alysse Dalessandro
on July 01, 2016

Best Friend Friday is a #StareStyle feature is designed to show you a range of plus size items on two different bodies with two distinct styles.

Today's Best Friend Friday is a super special one because not only does it contain six total looks but it also happens to be Kristen's birthday! We are the kind of friends who still make a big deal out of our birthdays and this year, Kristen's main request was that she wanted to leave the country. With all of our other life expenses, we adjusted our lofty plans for a European getaway to a quick car trip to Windsor, Canada. Lucky for me, Kristen was thrilled to just be on foreign soil.

There's so much I could say about why Kristen is my best friend and I've written more in depth about why I value having a fat best friend for On The Plus Side. If there's someone who is different from me just enough to be get me and  complement me, it's Kristen.

#StareStyle: Rainbow Bright in Santa Barbara

By Alysse Dalessandro
on May 13, 2016

When I told y'all that I took a lot of outfit pics on my recent trip to California, I was not lying! I was in California to visit with my family and when we ended up with an unexpected free day, my mom suggested we drive to Santa Barbara. I was down for the trip. On the drive there, I sat in the passenger seat in awe of our of the view. I took like a million snapchat videos and my mom and I wrote lists of our life goals. I was reminded of how many more places I still want to visit and how desperately I wish I paid better attention in my Italian language classes.

We took a trolley tour of the city, I froze my butt off on the beach and I went to a massive three-floor Forever21 just to check if they had any plus sizes (they didn't). It was a fun day. During the day, I kept it pretty casual in a t-shirt and shorts during the day but you know, I kept an outfit change in the car for dinner.

#StareStyle x Yona New York: It's A Wrap

By Alysse Dalessandro
on May 10, 2016

The weather in Cleveland has been described as "soggy" and that feels very accurate. It's been rainy and too uncomfortably cold for me to really wear the shorts I've been buying up in preparation for summer. So you can imagine my excitement when I got the opportunity to escape to Los Angeles for a few days to visit family and of course, take pictures of my outfits everyday (something I can rarely get to do here in Ohio)!

This textured wrap shawl from Yona New York  was one of the first things I packed for my trip and it was perfect for a casual brunch at a local vineyard/restaurant just outside LA where we were staying. The weather in LA was not quite as warm as I had hoped so this shawl kept me warm and allowed me to wear shorts at the same time. I wore it both open and tied and loved it both ways. It was such a versatile piece, I kept thinking of new ways I wanted to photograph it.

#StareStyle x Fashionable Addictions: My Polka Dot Reign

By Alysse Dalessandro
on April 26, 2016

Today's #StareStyle is special because it features plus size statement pieces from Fashionable Addictions, one of the very first boutiques that ever carried Ready to Stare merchandise. When I first started to Ready to Stare more than four years ago, there was definitely no #StareStyle. I was very much behind the scenes. I wanted so badly to have a place in fashion even though I was still unsure about my right to be there.
When Chicago stylist Aaja Corinne first introduced me to Dannie at Fashionable Addictions in the spring of 2012, I was instantly impressed with her business savvy. I knew I still had a lot to learn about running a business but right from the beginning she believed in me and my vision as a designer. She took Ready to Stare on as a retailer and my pieces have been carried in her store ever since.

#StareStyle: Plus Size Pattern Mixing

By Alysse Dalessandro
on April 20, 2016

I have a not-so-fond memory of myself in the seventh grade creating a book of fashion don'ts. It read something like "never wear black with navy" and "no socks with sandals." You've likely heard some of these rules before still being enforced by folks with far more influence than my seventh grade self. But while some fashion-minded people never learn to break the rules, I've learned to relish in it.

Pattern-mixing is one thing that I've been actively trying to do more. See my seventh grade self definitely would've thought stripes with floral was a no-no but my adult self is like FUCK YES. I have a few fellow plus size bloggers that I look up to pattern-mixing inspiration. And when I received both this striped cotton turtleneck and floral scuba skirt for Christmas, I knew I wanted to pair them together.

#StareStyle: Opposites Attract

By Alysse Dalessandro
on March 11, 2016

Whenever I meet people IRL who know me online, they often say two things: "I didn't realize how short you were" and "tell me about your boyfriend." I totally understand both. I've been told I look much taller in photographs than 5'1" and I don't share too much about my relationship online. So today, I still look pretty tall in these pictures but this is a pretty special post for me to do because I am opening up a bit about my relationship and I'm not doing it alone. I'm actually doing it alongside my boyfriend, Robb.

I've been in a lot shitty relationships/situationships. I didn't love myself for a long time so I couldn't properly love someone else. I credit the work that I did in therapy on loving myself, that I am still doing, for helping me be in a healthy relationship built on mutuality.
