In collaboration with JCPenney, I am bringing you a first look at the new Ashley Nell Tipton for Boutique+ capsule collection! Launching on September 6 with a live runway show in New York City, the collection is available today September 9 in JCPenney stores across the country!
This is Ashley's first collection post Project Runway and it's available exclusively at JCPenney. Looking through this 1950s inspired collection, it feels true to Ashley's aesthetic. There's leather; there's chiffon; there's lipstick print blouses and there's even a sequin bomber jacket. The collection is modern badass meets sophisticated chic at the same time.
Beyond being just a great mix of pieces, this collection shows how in tune that Ashley Nell Tipton and JCPenney are to the needs of the plus size customers. The size range of 1X-5X fits women's sizes 14-34 according to JCPenney's size chart which is linked to online alongside each item from the collection making it easy to reference. And the full collection is available in stores in sizes 0X-4X giving customers the opportunity to try pieces on before purchase -- something so rare for extended plus sizes!
This whole collection shines for me because it's accessible plus size fashion. Not only is a truly inclusive size range almost unheard of in plus but the price points are great as well. Sale prices range from $15.99 to $35.99 for graphic tees and pleated skirts, while moto and bomber jackets are $49.99 to $74.99.
I got a chance to get my hands on two of my favorite pieces from Ashley Nell Tipton for Boutique+ and I was instantly impressed by the quality and fit of the pieces. When I first received the moto jacket with chiffon, I was in awe of the genius of the design. And when I put it on, I quickly realized that it's one of the nicest items I've ever worn.
The hardware is durable rose gold and the chiffon is soft and airy. I love mixing hard and soft so this look allowed me to achieve that duality with ease. It zips on the side and features an adjustable belt around the natural waist.
I am a women's size 18/20 and I am wearing the size 1X in this jacket. It fit me perfectly. On the model, it hits closer to her knees but on me, it hits around the mid-calf which is something I expect at 5'1". I think it looks great either way.
This jacket makes a statement all on its own but I paired it with two other Boutique+ items: the striped double v-neck basic tee and the zip-front bodycon pencil skirt. I wore the zipper on the side so as not to distract from the jacket too much. This look to me is something I could wear day to night but still be comfortable and that's what I loved most about it.

I knew I needed the faux-leather pleated skirt as soon as I saw Ashley wearing it in all of the promo images for the collection. I love the idea of a pale pink color for Fall and in the leather fabric, it's another shining example of mixing hard and soft.
The skirt features an elastic waistband and delicate pleating. The fabric is substantial but not-so-heavy that you're sweating while wearing it.
I'm wearing the 1X also in this piece. Much like the coat, the length hits me more like a midi than knee length because of my height.
I decided to venture a bit out of my comfort zone and pair this with a sleeveless tie-front blouse. This is a trend that I've been wanting to try and this skirt presented the perfect opportunity.
