I took these pictures before Christmas Eve so that I would be prepared to show you my outfit before the day came. Well, here we are five days after Christmas and I am just getting around to sharing this look with you. I could beat myself up or I could say hey at least you did it! I am choosing the latter. As we go into 2017, I want to continue to work on leaving negative self talk behind for good.
I am not a perfectionist but I do constantly push myself and no matter how hard I work, it never seems like enough. I am going to work on being kinder to myself and spend the time I would usually spend on beating myself up for not doing enough on self care instead. If you're thinking, 'hey this was supposed to be a post about a dress?' I promise that I am getting to that!
I have been so excited about the plus size Coco Red Dress
from indie designer Courtney Noelle
for months! With the brocade pattern and velvet texture, this dress is a stunner. I also love the neckline. It's unexpected for a bodycon dress. The fabric is stretchy which you don't always find with brocade.
Courtney Noelle is one of my favorite indie designers because she only uses plus size models of color on her site. She sells sizes S-4X. All sizes in this dress cost the same amount which is also a win in my book! Since her pieces are usually very form-fitting, I tend to size up and this dress is a 3X. I wear an 18/20 for reference.
My family has a tradition of going out to dinner on Christmas Eve so I knew that this dress would be perfect. And it was. Maybe next year, I will do this post before Christmas Eve like I intended or maybe I won't. Either way, it will be okay!
