I have a not-so-fond memory of myself in the seventh grade creating a book of fashion don'ts. It read something like "never wear black with navy" and "no socks with sandals." You've likely heard some of these rules before still being enforced by folks with far more influence than my seventh grade self. But while some fashion-minded people never learn to break the rules, I've learned to relish in it.
Pattern-mixing is one thing that I've been actively trying to do more. See my seventh grade self definitely would've thought stripes with floral was a no-no but my adult self is like FUCK YES. I have a few fellow plus size bloggers that I look to for pattern-mixing inspiration. And when I received both this striped cotton turtleneck and floral scuba skirt for Christmas, I knew I wanted to pair them together.
This floral pencil skirt is from ELOQUII which is one of my favorite plus size brands. I'm wearing the size 24 but could have certainly gone a size down because of the fit at the waist. However, I will say that compared to the junior plus style pencil skirts that I've bought in the past that felt flimsy and tight, this one is lined and structured but still has a lot of stretch. I'm definitely a fan of the quality and construction. And as for pattern mixing, I don't see that rule-breaking behavior stopping any time soon.
