Plus Size Styling: Gwynnie Bee x Three

It's still February so I'm wearing pops of pink in honor of Valentine's Day for the remainder of the month alongside my old faithful color combination of black and gold. These three looks are courtesy of plus size subscription service, Gwynnie Bee. You can get a free 30-day trial to try Gwynnie Bee for yourself here or show some love to a friend by giving them the gift of Gwynnie Bee!

Winter in the Midwest is super unpredictable so I love to have options. Recently I slipped on black ice while cleaning snow off my car and a day later, it was 60+ degrees. Long sleeve dresses and sleeveless tops you can easily add a jacket to are so clutch. These three looks represent stylish plus size separates, bold patterns and gleaming hardware accents. When it comes to plus size styling, Gwynnie Bee covers all the bases for you. All of these pieces are available up to a 3X and some are available up to a 5X.

Trendy Plus Size Fashion with Fashion Nova Curve

Trendy Plus Size Fashion with Fashion Nova Curve

I have long been a fan of wearing a long tee with no pants as a makeshift dress. It just so happens now to be a plus size fashion trend but since it can be hard to find tees that actually fit oversized on a curvy body, I knew when I saw this camo tee from Fashion Nova Curve, I had to try it out. You can take 15% off your order from Fashion Nova with the code XOALYSSE!

I spent a long time hating my legs so it's important to now to be able to wear whatever I want without being limited by how I feel about my body. The other thing that has held me back from dressing how i want in the past was the existence of the things I want to wear in my size. The fact that Fashion Nova makes a tee in plus sizes that is long enough to cover my butt but still short enough to not be a dress on me as a petite plus size babe is huge!

Dope At Any Height: Petite Plus Size and Tall Fashion

In today's edition of Dope At Any Height, Ramona and I took this look from the streets to the rooftops of Atlanta to let y'all know that no matter what your height or size, you can rock any style! Ramona is 6'0" and I am 5'1" so when we wear the same styles, we want to show you that your personal style doesn't have to be limited by your height.

For this look, Ramona and I partnered with DebShops to bring you a look that combines glamour with a bit of edge. And while a sheer sequin midi skirt would usually be a dressy look, we took a casual approach pairing it with denim and sneakers.

Single & Happy: 24 Plus Size Babes Celebrate Flying Solo on Valentine's Day

Single & Happy: 24 Plus Size Babes Celebrate Flying Solo on Valentine's Day

On Valentine’s Day, there’s an emphasis on romantic relationships and love. Most of the Valentine’s Day imagery we see is very heteronormative euro-centric beauty standards reinforced through Hallmark movies and “his and her” gift guides. Often left out of the Valentine’s Day narrative is the fact that single doesn’t mean sad or invisible. And fat doesn’t automatically mean single and sad, either. People can be happy, sad, both and everything in between whether they are in relationships or single.

Though it’s rarely seen in the media, there are plenty of happy fat babes in relationships. There are also plenty of single plus size babes who aren’t crying about not being in a relationship; but rather, they are celebrating being single, their freedom and their love for themselves. I’ve had Valentine’s Days with partners but I’ve spent far more of them single. I realized that, for me, this day isn’t about couples. I don’t need a partner to validate that I am a fat person worthy of love and respect. I am worthy of love all on my own.

Plus Size Valentine's Day: Body Love Comes In All Sizes

I had the honor of participating in a body positive Valentine's Day lookbook with a few of my fellow plus size bloggers to show that self love comes in all sizes. #TheLookbookProject was organized by Marcy Cruz of the blog, Fearlessly Just Me and features eight plus size women between sizes 14-32 and two plus size men.

#TheLookbookProject partnered with plus size retailer, IGIGI to show that body love comes in all sizes AND genders. I am wearing the Ambrosia dress from IGIGI in a size 18/20. I had previously worn this same IGIGI dress on my blog so I already knew that it was super well made and a great fitting dress. I love that I got to be a part of this lookbook and wear this dress for Valentine's Day. I am featured on pages 6-7 so take a look below!

My First Plus Size Boudoir Shoot

My First Plus Size Boudoir Shoot

In honor of Valentine's Day, I wanted to treat myself to a plus size boudoir shoot! I have posed in lingerie many times over the past two years but I have been conscious to remove any bedroom element from those photos. For Valentine's Day, I wanted to not only pamper myself with a boudoir shoot but also challenge myself to try something new.

Lucky for me, I am good friends with an amazing Cleveland-based body positive boudoir photograher, Amber Patrick. We shot these images on the day of the Inauguration - definitely a day when I needed some self care and pampering!  After giving a few sneak peaks of this shoot on social media, I got a lot of questions about plus size boudoir and how to be more comfortable posing online in lingerie. I have a few things that in the past have made me more comfortable and a few things I learned by doing this boudoir shoot.

Plus Size Winter Fashion with Gwynnie Bee

Winter can be such a challenging time for fashion depending on where you live. Here in the Midwest, plus size winter fashion means snow boots one day and sandals the next. A cape is a great transitional winter item so you're prepared for whatever the weather may hold.

As y'all already know, I am a huge fan of plus size styling service Gwynnie Bee because I get to try out so many different styles like this Alfani Camel Cape. I have loved the plus size winter cape trend but because I am on the petite size, I wasn't sure if the length would work for me and that's why trying it out through Gwynnie Bee first was so clutch.

Extravagant Plus Size Lingerie for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day Plus Size Lingerie

I am a person who purchases plus size lingerie year-round but Valentine's Day presents an added reminder that adorning yourself in lingerie is one way to show some love to your body, whatever size it may be! And whether your style is sweet or sultry, there's plus size lingerie for every aesthetic.

My personal style happens to lean bold, in-your-face and unapologetic so when I am on the hunt for plus size lingerie for Valentine's Day, I am looking for designs with interesting details that make a clear statement. This list is for my fellow babes who like their plus size lingerie to have an element of drama or extravagance in some way. Pale pink babydolls are cute and all but this isn't that list (unless it's covered in marabou fur).

Universal Standard's Elevated Essentials Are A Plus Size Minimalist Dream

Universal Standard: Plus Size Fashion Minimalism

If the amount of sequin frocks and cheetah print items in my closet is any indication, I am definitely a maximalist when it comes to fashion. But despite my gaudy leanings, I have a strong appreciation for plus size minimalist fashion and one brand that I think is getting plus size minimalism so right is Universal Standard.

This plus size minimalist fashion brand makes high quality items in sizes 10-28. You can shop them all online or make an appointment to visit their New York City showroom (something that's on my to-do list next time I'm in NYC). The shop contains pieces in a range of mostly neutral colors which means that there's no bells and whistles to distract you; the designs are really just that clean and innovative. This is a plus size fashion brand that's completely gimmick-free. It feels high fashion and chic because well, it is.

Plus Size Bloggers: Lingerie As Outerwear

For today's blog, I teamed up with Marcy and Char, two of my fellow On The Plus Side experts, to show how we each style one of their new intimates items. As y'all already know, I am no stranger to the trend of wearing plus size lingerie as outerwear and I leaped at the chance to try out lingerie from one of my favorite extended plus lines.

The Magic Lift Figure Sculpt Bra comes in three colors and is available in sizes 44C -56F. I am a size 42D in bras which translates to a 44C. This bra was super supportive. It had the comforts of a bralette but the structure of an underwire bra. It's definitely one to try out!
