In late April, Ready to Stare began its partnership with Canada-based youth empowerment organization Broadening Horizons. Executive Director of Broadening Horizons, Sara Singh said she was drawn to Ready to Stare when she first learned about the empowerment movement #ReadytoStareWokeUpLikeDis. Singh explained it saying:
"We are so excited to be partnering with such an amazing brand to encourage anti-bullying and creative expression with a purpose! Art takes on many forms and Ready to Stare is the epitome of Fashion for Change! As an organization that promotes the use of creative expression to raise awareness about social justice issues, partnering with Ready-to-Stare helps us showcase to youth how fashion can be used as a tool to raise awareness, empower, and showcase change. We absolutely love that the brand represents diversity in beauty and that each piece makes a statement. The I Woke Up Like Dis Ts are a perfect compliment to our anti-bullying campaign, The Power of ONE, and we can’t wait to continue sharing the message of hope, love and positivity with the world."
The Broadening Horizons team wore Ready to Stare I Woke Up Like Dis t-shirts at their outreach events at Stephens Lewis Secondary School and at the Collaborative State of Mind Conference. Broadening Horizons volunteer Gurvir shared her story as part of #ReadyToStareWokeUpLikeDis.
Ready to Stare designer, Alysse Dalessandro writes about fashion empowerment on the Broadening Horizons blog, Tha Outlet.
